Welcome to the Tranquil Beading Oasis (TBO). This is a team effort
by all of us Oasians. We appreciate you a lot on the bay and we
appreciate you just the same here. This is a pretty laid back
group. We are here for each other and help promote the group as a
whole so more people (buyers) will see that this is a trusted
community of beaders. And the most important thing of all is ... have
fun!
Here are some answers to common questions that we've been
getting. It is a collective effort by all of the TBO
moderators. (Jaclyn, Stacy, Steph, Sus, Donna, Cindy, PS, Nath, Terry,
and Cyndie at your service.)
Q: I would love to join, how would I go about that?
A: TBO began at the bay. Here is what you will need to do as a member
of the group here at Esty:
Heart the TBO account and it will heart you back. Hearting each
other is no longer required, but feel free to!
Put TBO in your tags and a little blurb about TBO on your store
page and in each listing. You can also add TBO to your title if you
like, but that's not required. Here's a sample blurb: "Happy member of
the Tranquil Beading Oasis, a group of jewelry and bead
artisans. Search TBO on etsy to find the creations of our many
talented artists."
Come and go as you please.
If you like, try to grab treasuries and feature any TBO members creations
that you like.
Promote TBO whenever and whereever you can.
Have fun!
Q: I've seen LMJA linked with TBO. Who are they?
A: The Laughing Muse Jewelry Artisans (LMJA) are a group of 10 people
(listed above)...the bay's 10 TBO moderators. We formed this group to
"test" being and selling on Etsy before we suggested to our members to
assemble here. The LMJA is a closed group, but we are all TBO members
and are here to help members wherever and whenever we can.
Q: How does a treasury work?
A: In a word: FUN! A treasury is a display of works by 12 artists and
4 alternates. When on Etsy's home page, click the Treasury button
slightly down and to the left. There, you will see over 200 new
treasuries.
Here is the treasury tutorial if
you get lost in this explanation.
You will need to wait until a treasury opens up. Several will open
at a precise moment and you'll need to be ready when it does. It's
all about timing. The magic number that it needs to drop below is 222,
see the caption at the bottom of the page. To learn when a treasury
will open, sort the list by the expiration date. Once the treasury
opens, you will have a limited (very brief - matter of seconds) time
in which to type in your treasury title and then click the save/lock
button.
Once that is done, enter the subtitle at the top with TBO in it,
and the numbers of each featured item in the boxes. (Do not include
any of your items, not allowed.) My advice is to have the item numbers
already determined before you try for a treasury. You can find the
item number on each item for sale at the bottom right of the seller's
description. Copy & paste to (then from) a word processing program
file is probably the quickest way. Try to put together an opening
comment for others to understand your selection theme (if you have
one) or just a friendly greeting. Be sure to add TBO to the title
and/or to the subtitle so buyers can learn about our group. Even if
you decide to have an unrelated theme, including TBO will show
comradery to all the members.
Q: What needs to be done in order to post treasuries in the TBO
Street Team thread?
A: We would like to promote TBO whenever possible.
Type TBO in the title or subtitle of the treasury.
When featuring jewelry-related items and beads, only feature TBO
members.
When featuring a non-jewelry item theme with non-TBO members,
please include TBO in your title, subtitle or comments before posting
in the TBO Street Team thread.
Q: How do I qualify to be in a member's treasury?
A: That's
basically up to the treasury curator. The curators will normally
search for items tagged with TBO and pull from that list. So be sure
to put TBO in your tags and you will be considered for those
treasuries.
Q: What is the SNS and how does it work?
A: That is the Saturday Night Specials! Here are some fun facts and
you can also read up on your own in these threads for more
information.
Info
Here is a previous
SNS to give you an idea of what to put in your ad.
each week Etsy will have a Companion thread in the Etc. forum
that will be for chatting, secrets, and other discussions not directly
business related. Here is
one from a previous week that will give you an idea of what it's
about.
A "Super Special" is when a seller puts one item on sale at a
radically discounted rate to move it out of their shop. It is usually
for a limited amount of time (such as one or two hours). Those will be
posted in the main thread.
Q: What is the FNHH and how does it work?
A: The Friday Night Happy Hour is an opportunity to submit your
temporary discounts and/or specials you'd like to offer. It's
usually just for that evening beginning at 3:00pm EST through to
9:00pm EST. If you are unsure, I would just watch it for that Friday
and try it the follow week.
Here is an example
of a previous FNHH.
Here are the rules.
We will give you any more updated information when we have it. We
hope this helps you with some sales! Happy selling! Welcome Aboard!
Sincerely,
The TBO team!
Please post your questions and comments in the TBO
Street Team thread.
